I have a home network running XP Pro.
How do I create a user account for my kids with limited usage? I don't want
them downloading stuff unless I know what it is!
I want to be able to load certain programs on there account. When I set up a
Guest account it wont let me add or download anything to that account.
States that I do not administrator rights.
How do I set up a limited/guest account and still be able to add programs
when I want to????

Thanks,

Jack Barrett

Hi, Jack. There is a big difference between a Limited User and a Guest
account. The guest account is for very brief, specific and limited use
on a temporary basis. It is usually disabled for security purposes.
What you want to do is log in with an account that has administrative
privileges. Then go to the User Accounts applet in Control Panel and
follow the wizard to make accounts for your kids. Make them Limited
Users. When you want to install software, log into your account and
install it. Create a shortcut to the program's executable in the kids'
Start menus and they'll have access to it.
