Creating personal audio cd's

Is it possible to create personal narration, non-musical,
cd's to give to grandchildren, much like the tape
cassettes where I read books to them?
If so, what equipment do I need and how do I go about it?

You need a microphone, and a CDR drive, in addition to your PC.

For software, you need audio recording (and preferrably editing)
software, and CD burning/mastering software.
