Creating Labels from an Excel list

Call me dumb if you like, but I have just spent the last
2 hours trying to follow the embedded instructions for
Mail Merge.
This is what I want to know: How can I create a mailing
(names, titles, company, addresses etc)label (Avery J8163)
using a database created in Excel 2000?
In the simplest possible terms please!

Using the Word mail merge wizard I had it working in less than 2 minutes.
What bit do you get stuck on.
