Hi there:
I keep hitting a key sequence that results in a duplicate of the Excel file
I have open. If I close the file, I can only see one copy in the directory
but if I open it again, I get two files open, File1.xls:1 and File1.xls:2. a)
How did I do this? and b) how do I undo this????
Thanks!

These are not multiple workbooks/files. They're multiple windows into the same
(single) workbook.

You can get them by: Window|New Window (from the menubar).

You can get rid of them by selecting the window you want to close and hitting
ctrl-w.

Debra Dalgleish has some instructions with pictures:

This is a useful feature if you wanted to see different worksheets (or different
parts of the same worksheet at the same time). You'd use: Window|Arrange to
get them the way you want.
