Russ, I've come up with a solution -
If you select a Category in the Contacts, then click on menu Actions, and
click on New Message To Contact, it will in fact take all the contacts of
the Category and put them into the To: line. So this will work as long as
you are not in need of getting them into the BCC line, which is often the
desired case.
Unlike the DL, which you just use (once set up), you have to go through the
motions each time you want to sent to the whole group email, but it is
certainly a work around to the labor of setting up the DL in a large contact
list.
Thanks for your time and thoughts.

Simple. You cannot put the name of a Category into the To, or CC, or BCC
line, but you can with a DL.
Major use of the DL is signified by its name... email "distribution" by a
named list container.
Can you show me how to do that with a Category ? I'm all ears, and I'd
prefer that solution.

create
a
DL when you already have categories established. DL's have no features and
are unreliable. Most of what you need a DL for you can do with categories,
and more. Why not take advantage of the categories you created?

Is there an easy way to create a distribution list from all the members
of
a category ? When I click on Select Members the expected way, I get a
dialog of all my contacts in alpha order, not by category. This is really
difficult because my category members are here and there through out the
total list.
Any tips ?
