Creating and using system checkpoint in Win2K

I can't seem to find a way for creating a system
checkpoint in Win2k.
A collorary question is: How would I use the checkpoint
once created, if I had to?

An unrelated question: Searching through MS newsgroups:
When I click on search button in the middle of my Explorer
screen, it brings up a dialog box where I can enter search
criteria, BUT there is no GO or SEARCH button to execute a
search.

TIA,
Michael

If you're referring to the Restore point feature found in Windows Me and Windows XP, there is no such feature in Windows 2000.

The answer to your question regarding the Go button may depend on which version of IE you're using.

I don't believe the default version 5.01 has that feature.

If you're running IE 6, click on Tools | Internet Options | Advanced [tab]. Under Browsing, select "Show Go button in Address bar".

Ignore my reply regarding the Go button.

I see that you are using the Web-based Newsreader. I assume that your question pertained to that environment. If so, here is the procedure for searching:

Searching for Messages
You can search newsgroups for specific messages if you click Search in the lower-right frame. You can search for up to five criteria: newsgroup, message sender, subject, message body, and date.

When you click Search, a search window will appear for you to enter your search criteria. By default, the Look in field displays the current newsgroup. To broaden your search outside the current newsgroup, click the arrow to the right of the Look in field and select a broader topic category from the drop-down list. Then specify your other search criteria in the remaining four fields (any of them can be left blank except for date range), and then click Search.

Messages that match your criteria will appear in a form similar to that of the sorted newsgroup. Click a message in the list in the upper frame to view the content in the lower frame.

Sparky,
Yes, I am using a web based news reader. When the search
window opens up with Look in and other search qualifiers,
there is NO Search button! The only search button is in
the lower part of that window, and that just refreshes the
window. So, I am confused.
TIA,
Michael

I just went to the website and tried the search routine myself.

The only thing I can see that may be causing this problem would be an overlap of the lower pane with the top.

Place your mouse cursor on the top edge of the lower pane (cursor should change to a double arrow) then click the left mouse button and drag the bar down. It should expose two buttons; Search & Cancel.

That's the best I can do. Hope it helps.
