hi all,

I have a new laptop that Im ready to Sysprep and the
problem is that i always used to use the floppies to boot
after using Sysprep to transfer the image to the network
storage and now the laptop has no floppy drive suport, so
Im wondering how Im going to boot this laptop after
Sysprep to tranfer the image? Is there any 3rd part
software that has a bootable CD Rom maybe that wil just
tranfer the image for you? Has anyone ran into this
problem before?

THANKS!!!

Use your bootable floppy disk to make a bootable CD!

Use a Burning Tool like Nero to "convert" your working floppy disk to
a bootable CD. The guides in Nero are very easy to follow (read the
online docs)

Sherry,

We have been using USB floppy disk drives and a floppy boot disk to boot
into Ghost with network support so we can get to our Ghost image server. We
use Toshiba laptops which have a function key setting at bootup that lets us
change the boot device order to the USB floppy device. I would guess that
most new laptops these days have a similar function to prevent having to
change the boot device order in the BIOS.

If your image is of a Win XP installation then I doubt you are going to be
able to get it on a CD. I haven't been able to get our Ghost images of XP
Pro smaller than 1.5Gb when our standard apps are also included so have had
to send Ghost images on DVD's to our hardware suppliers.

If you ARE using Ghost then I believe boot-from-DVD support wasn't added
until Ghost 8 (but I'm still waiting for the Ghost 8 Enterprise media to be
delivered <ho hum> so I can't be sure. Of course, if so, this means a DVD
burner is required and the laptops need DVD or combo drives.

Hope this helps.

Rick
