Creating an email with pictures included, when saving it or sendi.

I created an email message, and inserted two pictures in the message content.
When I try to save the file or send to someone, the picture gets deleted
first. What do I do to correct this???

We could probably help if you provided a little more info, such as:

1) Your Outlook version (97,98,2000,2002, or 2003)
2) The e-mail format you're using (HTML, Plain text, RTF, etc)
3) Are you using Wordmail as your e-mail editor?
4) Exactly what procedure did you use to insert the pictures?

1) Outlook 2003 w/ Business contact manager
2) HTML format
3) not sure what the email editor is
4) Insert / Picture / Browse / select file to insert

I just noticed when I copy & paste it in, it doesn't dissapear into an
"x-box" when I try to save it or send it.

I thought it was the suppose to be the other way around - meaning, if I
insert the picture it doesn't get reduced to an "x".

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You appear to be using the correct procedure. This can be a tough problem to
zero in on. The only thing I could suggest now would be to check your system for
parasites, malware, etc. Then go to the Windows Update site and the Office
update site to verify that you have all the latest security patches installed.

It's important to have IE & OE up-to-date since some of their patches also
affect the rendering of HTML messages in Outlook.

See this page for good info and download links:

The above page also has a link to a site that will check your system for you.
Look for "Online Parasite Scanner".

I highly recommend Spybot S&D and Ad-aware as search & removal tools. Spybot can
also immunize your system from any future problems such as these.

For an even more proactive method of protection, see this link:

If I'm off-target, hopefully someone else will jump in with a solution for you.

Okay, I will try that, and will let you know one way or the other.

I did try to install service pack 2 for outlook 2003 but my system froze in
the process, and now I'm afraid to do it again. Is this service pack
imperative??

The latest service pack for Outlook 2003 is SP1. Perhaps you're thinking of
Windows XP SP2.
