creating a notes style

I know what I want but don't know how to get it[1].

What I want is a new style. A style that will
contain notes: the notes not directly related to
the main body of text. If you look at the
ASCII drawing (below) you'll see how I'd like
to construct my notes style.

----------------------------------------------
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
i xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
---------------------------------------------

I want my note indented from the left margin
by 0.75" and from the right margin by 0.5".
I also want a Pi font symbol (char 0x69 from
the Webdings font) as an icon in the space
between the left margin and the beginning
on the note.

I'd prefer my note as a style, but I'm also
open to hints in how it can be done
as a table, or a bulleted list or some
other construction.

[1] That's a blast from the past. I once
thought that the Pistols, Black Flag,
and the Ramones were the only poets
capable of expressing real feelings.
And here I'm listening to Jean-Phillipe
Rameau[2] conducted by Otto Klemperer[3].
Sigh, where's all my nihilism gone?

[2] who as far as I know isn't related
to Johnny Ramone.

[3] who probably also isn't related
to Johnny Ramone, or even to
Colonel Klink, from Hogan's Heroes.

Create a new style. Use the Bullet function: select the pi character as the
bullet.Your picture appears to have the bullet character aligned with the
second line of text. If that's really what you want, click Font on the
Bullet > Customize dialog, select the Character Spacing tab, and lower the
character position by the required distance. Set the paragraph indents to
0.75 in and 0.5in respectively.

Bugger. I was getting comfortable being the Rum Tum Tugger
of this newsgroup.

The Rum Tum Tugger is a terrible bore:
When you let him in, then he wants to be out;
He's always on the wrong side of every door,
As soon as he's at home, then he'd like to get about.

However, after following your advice, I'm happy with
the result. Thankyou.
