I have to provide some summary totals of information to
track trends by time-of-day and day-of-week.

I use the subtotal function to provide me with the data,
but instead of "entering the data manually to a new
worksheet" I would like to filter out all of the
information except the subtotals further evaluate.

Is there a way to filter out all the other data leaving
only the subtotals?

Thanks

After you've done your Data|subtotals, you could collapse that range (use the
outlining symbols at the left) and then select those cells.

Then hit F5 (or Edit|Goto),
click special
select visible cells only

And copy and paste to a new sheet.

But you may want to invest a little time on Data|Pivottable. An hour investment
will change your life!

If you've spent any time sorting the original data, applying data|subtotals,
copying the visible cells, pasting, then reformatting to your liking, you'll be
pleasantly surprised at how much time you can save.

Here are some links for pivottable info:

Debra Dalgleish's pictures at Jon Peltier's site:

And Debra's own site:

John Walkenbach also has some at:

(look for Tony Gwynn's Hit Database)

Chip Pearson keeps Harald Staff's notes at:

MS has some at (xl2000 and xl2002):

I'm using Excel 97 so I don't know if this has changed

After creating the subtotals you can colapse the groups to show only the sub-total rows

Select the are with the sub-taotal, goto Edit>Go_To>Special>Visible_Cells_Only

Then copy, and paste the data where you want it

Good Luck
