Creating a disk image of a CD

This is a little off the beaten path but here goes. I have a program that
calls for the CD when you click on the shortcut to start it even though I
have installed the program to my hard disk. I want to be able to run the
entire program from my hard disk.

Does XP offer any way to make a disk image so my computer thinks the program
director is a drive?

I faintly remember some parts of MSDOS like disk copy but I'm not sure if
the new operating system does it.

Can any techie give me a hand here?

You might be able to copy the files, but more often than not it's looking
for the actual CD for copy protection purposes. SOME CD cloning / virtual
drive software may work, but there's nothing "built in" to XP that will help
with that.

EG's correct on that. What you might do is look through any readme files on
the cd about the installation. CreataCard for example has instructions in
the readme for loading the cd to the hard disk avoiding having to install
the cd every time you want to run the program.
