create template employees can open, read only, but fill in and re.

Need to create a new hire check list with a lower quick reference section.
Need read only doc employees can open, and then add their info in selected
area but not change original template. I know there is a simple way to do
this that I am missing!

Your telegraphic style makes it a bit difficult to be certain about exactly
what you want? Which version of Word is available in your company?
