I have windows 2000 and office 2000. Whenever I create a
shortcut from an existing excel icon on desktop, the
target box in the new copied icon is un-editable (grey
color). Wonder how can I create an excel icon that let me
edit the target.

What I am trying to do is to add the worksheet filename
after the excel program in target line so that when I
double click on this new excel icon, it opens the
worksheet.

Thank you.

Bob,
I did that but we wanted the user to open the file read-
only. Therefore, when we copy and recreat a short cut
from the desktop, we will go to the target box and after
excel program with put -r "worksheetname.xls". But the
problem is that the target box, in our case, is greyed out
and we can not edit it. It did not do this on all
computer, only some computers.
I appreciate any tip to creat a shortcut that target box
won't greyed out.

Sounds like you don't have necessary permission to do that with that
profile. Use a different profile to edit and then move Shortcut to "All
Users" desktop so it is available to the "disabled permissions" account.
