Create new user in active directory

Using Exchange 2000, Windows 2000 server, W2k and Office
XP on the desktops.

I was advised in a previous post that I should not rename
an old user to a new user as a way to save time, desktop
settings, etc. I should instead delete the old user and
create a new one. I was given an easy solution to use in
the future and will definitely do so.

OK, I'd like to fix the two new users that I set up
incorrectly but I don't want to lose their Outlook info
(i.e.: calendar, contacts, inbox, sent & deleted items,
etc.) We use exchange and all of our outlook info is on
our server (outlook today - mailbox - user)I've read
through a lot of posts but I'm not sure I understand them
correctly. So my question is: if I delete the user in the
active directory and then create a new user with the exact
same info is there a way to restore their outlook info?
One article mentions restoring from an ost after deleting
the mailbox but states I can't modify the profile or
connect to a new mailbox and I don't know if I would be
doing that when creating the new user. We do back up every
night but I'm not sure what files I could restore if that
is an option. Can I use the info in article 813337
restore a mailbox by using exchange system manager or does
deleting the user negate this? Is it possible to just
copy outlook info to a disk/cd or something and then copy
it back?

Or would it be best to just leave the two users as they
are instead of trying to change them? I don't want to
cause any unnecessary problems.

Sorry for the long post, hard to condense my thoughts.
Your help and info is really appreciated.

Thanks,
Sandy

Sandy,
I think it would be easier to go to the users desktops,
and export their mail to a .pst file and then delete the
newly created users. Once you re-create the users then
import the .pst from whereever you save it to and all
their information should be there. I've done it this way
a few times and it worked fine.
