Need some help. I am looking for a better solution to solve a common
problem. In our computer labs, we have the default printer set to Adobe
PDF Maker so student have to choose a printer and they know where they
sent the print job to. However I have too many students ask me where is
the Adobe printer at.

So what I would like to do is find some information on how to create a
dummy printer on the lab computers. When students try to print to this
dummy printer, a message will be displayed on the screen telling them
they need to go back and select the correct printer.

So does anybody have ideas on how to create this dummy printer?

TIA

why not just use a script to map the correct printer for the students?

You can create any printer you want just by adding a local printer, just
don't print a test page

We have two to three printers in each lab. I want the student to choose
which printer they sent the job to so they know where to go. I would
like to have the default setup so if they print to the default printer,
then a window will appear and tell them to choose a printer.

Perhaps this is too simple. You can rename a printer to anything you want.
For example:

Dummy (PDF)
Boys restroom
Girls restroom
Hall

or, whatever.
