Greetings,

Is there any way to set up a macro in a Word doc so that I
can create a secondary doc from

a master doc, where the secondary doc contains some but
not all of the information that is

in the master doc? Periodic updates will need to be made
to the master doc, so I'll want

to do this repeatedly. Also, if this is possible, how do I
do this?

Thanks in advance for any assistance. ellen

In some ways this sounds like you want to make your primary doc into a
template with your spare text in AutoText. I'll assume for the moment that
you really want two documents.

I'll call your primary doc "doc1" and your smaller subsidiary doc "doc2.!

Mark the parts of doc1 that you want in doc2 with bookmarks. (Insert =>
Bookmark)

Then, in doc2, import those portions using Insert => File

You'll need to name the ranges (bookmarks) one at a time and insert as a
link.

After you make changes in doc1, first check to make sure your bookmarks are
intact. (Editing text at the edge of a bookmark can delete the bookmark.)
Then save doc1, open doc2, and press Ctrl-A, F9 to update the links. If you
have other fields in doc2 that you don't want updated, something more
sophisticated is needed.

Hope this helps,
