CRC Errors - What are they and what causes then

For some reason I seem to get this error alot when trying
to install games. I have asked many people what it is and
no one seem to know. I was hopeing that there was someone
out there that might be able to help me out. It get
really frustrating at times. From my test I have a
feeling that it is caused by my sound card (SB Live).
When you install the SB Live drivers some of them are
CRC. I am not sure if changing to a different sound card
would help and I am not even sure what are some of the
better sound cards other then Soundblaster.

I would first run a diagnostic program on my CD or DVD rom drive.
Since it isn't just the SB drivers disk, it is other game disks,
you may have an optical drive going bad. Also make sure your CD's
are not dirty or scratched and if you have never cleaned your
CD rom drive, get some proper cleaning product and try that first.
