CRC error message

hello.

Everytime i try to unpack an exe, or unzip or unrar a
file, i get an error message that says 'CRC Mismatch'
or 'CRC Check failed'. I cant install any programs
because of this, or unzip any files over like 3 megs.

i thought this was a problem on windows2000, so i did a
clean install on my machine and installed windows XP, BUT
I STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM. so i'm wondering, what else
could be causing the problem? could it be the BIOS? or the
harddrive? i'm all out of ideas...

any help would be greatly appreciated....
 
CRC errors (Cyclic Redundancy Check) are usually the
result of a hardware problem, or of a corrupted zip file.
Use a different medium, or a different floppy disk drive,
or get someone to send it to you via EMail until you
have isolated the cause.
