Have 3 pc, 2 xp home and one 98se machine.

They all connect through a linksys router.

Each xp machine can see the other xp machine and get on the net.

Problem I have a 98se machine that I

Installed the linksys net card, reboot and installed the software.
Turned on file and print sharing.
Shared the C drive.

Neither xp machine can see the 98 machine.
The 98 can see itself.

My workgroup is MSHOME or Mshome on the xp's and have tried both on the 98
machine with same results.

I can take the net cable that is plugged into the 98 machine and plug into
the xp machine and it works fine.

What am I doing wrong on the 98 machine. Install the card and software for
the card and turn on file and print sharing...? What else. Have tried other
Net cards with the same results. Can put the card into the xp machine and it
works fine.

My eyes are crossed now and a head ache.

have you run the xp network setup wizard on the Win98 machine? the wizard
asks if you want to make a client network setup disk when you run it on the
xp boxes or you can put the xp CD into the 98 machine and select the nw
setup wizard from the menu in the autorun..

Found the problem, got to looking in the device manager and the net card was
not their, but when the card was installed windows detected it, promped for
drivers and installed them and said ever thing was fine.
Took the modem and the net card out of the box booted and shutdown. Put just
the net card in and booted and came on to the net just fine, put the modem
in an rebooted and it did it's thing and works fine and all is well. I
believe a rearange of irq's....?

I will give the wizard a go next round.
