after a period of time on the net my PC crashes & then
reboots itself saying, The system has recovered from a
serious error.then in the error report it says, The error
was likely caused by: ESS Modem Driver (es56cvmp.sys) Can
u please put me on the right track in getting around this
or fixing the problem, thanks...

It could be a problem with the hareware connection, if
you know how try taking your modemcard out and put it
back in again. I had some similar problem and that fixed
it..

My XP Pro with 1024 RAM was doing the same thing, but
with a message that said something about an unidentified
driver conflict. I ran "memtest86" downloaded free to a
floppy and then booted from the floppy. This showed that
the problem really was that the second 512 RAM stick was
bad at 815 MB and spots above. So I ran "msconfig" from
the RUN box in Windows XP, then went to "boot.ini",
then "advanced" and set MEM/MAX to 815, then rebooted
with XP. It has not crashed since (two days). Maybe it
will work for you.
