Hi.
I have in task manager a process with this name: "mcupdate.exe", and the os
said that is an Network Service. Well, this process, up my cpu somewhere to
60-70%. :| I have an Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4GHz.
I read on the internet something like that: is a process associated with
McAfee Internet Security Suite, BUT i never installed on my PC McAfee or a
program what can be associated with it.
....

Hi,

First, check services.msc to see if this is loading there. Perhaps the
system was preloaded with McAfee and it was removed?

Otherwise, I'd suspect you have a virus that is masquerading using a legit
file name.

mcupdate.exe is Media Center Update. Same CPU usage when Media Center checks
and downloads updates is noted here.

MCupdate is a media center app. If you open up media
center, go to tasks>settings>general, and disable
automatic update options, it should help.
