Hey guys,

I have 2 Windows XP operating systems on my Computer i have 2 HDD's and the
one with the 2 operating systems on it is C:/.

I Didnt format the disc before installing windows again, thats why there are
2 Operating systems.

We'll name them A & B

When i log into OS "A" (The first originally installed OS) it takes a while
to log in where as "B" is ver quick. The OS are a different sizes.... A is
2.29GB where as Profile B is only 150MB big.

When on OS "A" no matter what application i open whether to watch a music
vid on WM player or play a game the CPU Usage is at 100% and lags my
computer. After i close the application its still lagging. i found out that
it kept lagging cos the application didnt actually close. I Opened Task
manager and it was still at 100% i had to End Process.

Whats going on OS "B" is perfect it doesnt stuff up or anything, it runs
like a dream.

Pls help me, i would greatly appreciate your assistance :)

Hi HC, I only have one suggestion. If both O/S's are the same start from
scratch and re install only one copy of the O/S.
In other words do a full gut and clean.
BUT before doing that make sure you have backed up your data onto cd first.

When you install Windows XP it mentions that it starts faster then any
previous version. Maybe Microsoft are telling the truth...

Do you have two separate Windows installations on drive C:, or just
two different user profiles that both log into the same installed
Windows?

If both "A" and "B" use the c:\Windows folder for their operating
system files then what you have is two different user profiles.

In that case you can just go into Control Panel - User Accounts and
delete user account "A".

Good luck

Ok thanks heaps for your help. :)

Yeah i might just gut all the stuff up and back it all on disc.

They are actually NOT profiles BUT 2 O/S on C:/ so theyre taking twice the
room up. Its only a 40GB HDD and ive only got 1.2GB left i want to delete the
other profile so i only have one plus i have more room.

But before i do anything like that i would want to know why my CPU Usage
history is always at 100% with O/S "A" maybe is it because the profile is
2.2GB and "B" is only 155MB would that make a difference?

Thanks heaps again you guys are legends!

Where are you measuring the sizes you mention. 2.2GB and 150MB are very
diffferent sizes. You have two XP installations on the same partition. You
need to reformat and reinstall. Dont even worry about the CPU issue until
you reformat and reinstall.

HC...

Where are you measuring the sizes you mention?

Im Measuring them through Task manager.

Is there a way to make the o/s which is 2.2GB any smaller?, it would make it
run better and more efficiently yes?
