hi
My initial problem still exists, and have only managed to confirm the
location of the file / program constantly using the cpu. I have tried to
delete the file but as it as it is constantly in use the file deletion is
denied. how can I delete the file? and the reinstall a good version ?? any
helpers out there??
Steve

Try opening control-panel,administration,then open event viewer, click on
an event/warning for tcp/ip then click on the url in it,this opens
help/support
in xp usually with a fix or answer to it.

Well, if you delete tcpsvcs.exe that will be the last we hear from
you---because you won't be back on the Internet

The problem is likely not tcpsvc, but something using tcpsrv...what are you
doing at the time this occurs? Does this occur when you are not on the
Internet, or are you on cable/dsl, so you are always on the Internet? You
need to be looking at resource hungry programs that are doing something over
the network or Internet...filesharing, perhaps? trojan maybe?

Hi Stephen,

I have had this problem before on a few machines! What I found was that if
I re-serviced packed the machine it resolved the problem. I think the
service pack replaces the tcpsvcs.exe file! I was running Windows XP SP1.

Hope you find this useful.

Ben
