cpu fan problem

i bought a speeze5f273b1l3 12 volt cpu fan today to replace my
coolermaster dp5 6h51 installed it and turned on my pc it started to
boot for about 3to 4 seconds then beeped continiously then shut
off,so i put the cooler master back in and it booted fine both these
cpu fans are 12volt,i have a 300 watt mercury power supply could it
be its not big enough,i could do with some help on this before my
2400xp arrives next week currently have 1 gig thunderbird

Did the new fan spin? If yes, suspect you did not have good contact with
CPU.

The RPM detection maybe not working with the new fan?
