Cpu burntout question

Hi all,

Im trying to see if my old 1.1ghz athlon cpu has burnt out, can a cpu still
get warm when it's on, if it's burnt out??, beacuse at the moment it get's
warm but no display from the monitor so maybe the mobo?.

Are you getting any BIOS beeps?

Nope, no beep's from the mobo. I did drop the mobo a few day's ago, I think
that buggered it lol.

Take the cpu out, keeping the fan plugged in, and then turn on the pc.
If pc springs to life (fans spinning up) then chances are it's the cpu
that's the problem.
