Hi, i've just reformatted and reloaded XP for a friend on their laptop.
Everything was fine until SP2 was downloaded and installed. Now i seem to
permenantly get CPU 100% (SYSYTEM is the culprit). I found a kb article but
it seems mighty complicated to get the hotfix......Any ideas???

Could you please advise how to obtain the hotfix for Article ID 890582.

Any help appreciated

You follow the instructions on that page, which state:

So your saying it will cost £40.00 + VAt to get the fix???

The only option to contact microsoft direct seems to be chargeable.

Is there no link to a direct download?

Confused.

Microsoft does not charge for hotfixes.
