Opening a document in Word XP that was generated in Word 97. Document now
has lines at the bottom of the page that are not in the original document,
nor do these lines show up in the footer. These lines are sporadically
dispursed throughout the document. Need to know how to remove lines from
these pages.

Do these lines print? AFAIK Word XP is _not_ adding any lines to your
document but things may look different in XP than in 97. If they print, can
you select or click on the lines?

Thanks for responding Charles. Yes the lines print but they are not visible
in the document as shown on the screen nor in print preview. I've tried to
click on the bottom of the page in the document where they show up once
printed but nothing comes up even by clicking on the "What's this?" button.
Any suggestions?

Debbie

Some printer drivers allow for printing a watermark directly from the
printer.
