Course Places left

I have a form for course date and a form for course bookings. When I go in
to the form that show course dates. I want it to show how many places are
left on a particular course.
 
How do you know how many are left? What is your table structure?

We need many more details than what you provided.

Each course starts with eight places and what I want to do as I book a
person on the course booking form on a particular course on a particular
date. I want the course form to display how many places are actually left on
this course. Hope this makes sense??
