I purchased a Home Edition full retail (non-OEM) version of XP and on the Microsoft Certificate of Authenticy seal it labels the country of origin as Ireland. I am afraid to open the shrink wrap because of this. I am not sure if it will work OK in the USA. Anyone know anything about this?

All that means is the product was made in Ireland.
Microsoft have a factory in Ireland where they put software on to CDs and
package them, although i thought the Ireland factory was just for europe,
where did you get it from??
my box XP Pro box has the same thing

Yep it works here in the UK, got a few other Microsoft products that all say
the country of origin is Ireland.
As long it says "Windows XP Home English Intl" on the COA, or unless you
want an non-english version it should be OK
USA and UK both use English Intl versions of XP as far as im aware.
Cant really say much more, if your still not sure, you could get in contact
with Microsoft and ask them, or a you may be better posting a new message
asking a MVP

Any way good luck, let us know how you get on.
