how can i count using multiple criteria in a
worksheet..example

say i have a worksheet and in column A it is type of
car..column B is whether the car is new or used. How do i
count how many lets say trucks are used.

Car new
Truck used
Van new
Car new
Truck used
Truck new

please help.
 
place the following formula in the cell that you want your answer to
display in

=SUMPRODUCT((A1:A24="truck")*(B1:B24="used"))

the ranges must be of equal size replace the a1:a24 with the actually
range for the car truck column the same for the b:1:B24 for the new
used column
