Count or Sum Formula

I'm using Excel (Office XP with all the updated patch
files) & recently encountered this problem. For example
on a new worksheet, I enter a value in each column (ie
A,B & C row 1), then sum or count the value in column D
row 1. If I change the value in any of the columns, it
doesn't show the changes in the sum column.
This has affected all of my worksheets. Please help.

Go to
<Tools> <Options> <Calculation> tab,
And make sure that "Automatic" is checked.
