A quick word with one of the guys in our legal department says the magazine would have been liable..Although the words are those that Mr. Thompson spoke, everything should have been researched before going to press..
Although a cock up like that isn't going to do his reputation any good..Come to think of it, his drunken antics in The Ivy a few weeks ago didn't do him much good either...

There would have been VERY serious repercussions if someone had become ill or, even worse, died. Large sums of money would have been involved.
