Corupt shortcut

Have a corupt short cut to a File called "takings.xls"
now can't find original file in excel, or the short cut.
1. How can I find the file open it and recreate a short
cut?

From the windows Start button ..... Fin

Choose Start, Find, Files or Folders and type in the file
name in the name box. When It is found, right-clicvk on
the file and choose Create Shortcut. Follow the prompt to
create a shorcut on the desk top.
