Corrupted XP Professional CD?

I bought another HDD because my otherone completely died, and I went to
install a fresh copy of Windows, and there are around 4 files (that are
apparently vital) that cannot be read. I cleaned the CD very well, and still
they cannot be read. I have no other Windows CD's.

Is the CD bad? If so, is there a way I can get a replacement CD?

THanks for any advice,

Goodday!

Not having access to your CD means I can't tell you if it is bad, but have
you tried a different CD reader? Or copying the CD and running that? Contact
MS for a replacement CD.

Have a different CD Drive you can use (even if you have to temporarily steal
it from another computer)?

If it's an OEM version you'll need to contact the vendor from whom you
purchased it for possible replacement.
