Wrong answer. The OEM is tied to the system, but repairs
are allowed. Replacing a hard drive is certainly a repair.
CPU upgrades are also allowed, the question will arise with
a replacement mobo/BIOS. The OEM may be BIOS locked, in
other words Dell wants Dell OEM Windows on a Dell mobo, and
HP wants a HP BIOS on the mobo, etc.
If you have a MS branded OEM Windows, it is tied to the
system and enforced by WPA. Even then upgrades are allowed
and authorized by a call to MS.

The people think the Constitution protects their rights;
But government sees it as an obstacle to be overcome.
| If you buy a new Hard drive for the same PC AND you have a
full retail version of XP it is within your usage rights.
|
| If it is an OEM edition of XP you are in violation of the
EULA to install XP on an 'upgraded' environment [be it HDD,
CPU or MOBO].
