corrupted floppy disk

Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem:
I had typed in 2 hours on a mail list. Now when I try to open it says:
specific password not saved or not a valid database or file corrupted and
contains special characters (and it lists a whole bunch of charters) and says
to take these characters off and start again. I'm lost. Can anyone help?

Without knowing what program you used, how your saved it, and what the
specific error message is, it's doubtful anyone will have specific
suggestions.
