HI,
My database seems corrupted. AccessXP says it must be repaired. If I say
yes, it says the format is not compatible.
Are there any utilities to recover my data? I have some 35,000 records in
this.
Thanks
Ramesh
First off - MAKE A BACKUP of the damaged database now. You may need it
later. The fact that you've tried to compact and repair it may indeed
have already done further damage... :-{(
There is a repair utility named JETCOMP.EXE. Check your disk to see if
it's installed (it should be in Windows\System or the appropriate
system folder for your operating system). If it's not you can download
it from
http://support.microsoft.com. It can repair some corruption
which the Access compact & repair cannot.
If this is not successful, contact Peter Miller at
http://www.pksolutions.com for his highly-regarded database salvage
service.
Depending on how the database was damaged, even Peter's wizardry might
not succeed (in which case he won't charge you). Backups are
*absolutely essential* for any Access data that you don't mind
recreating from scratch. If you don't have a backup - you may not have
a database. Good luck!
