Corrupt Security Event log File

When I enter Event Viewer and try to access the security
logs, I get a message Event Log File is corrupted. There
are no events visible. Can this be repaired?

XP Home SP1. All critical updates are installed except
for ones dealing with network problems and fixes.

I believe there is a hot fix for this issue on XP machines. You would need
to call in to Product Support Services to get the hot fix, but there should
not be a charge.
