Okay, this is the deal......the other day I got a 'missing and/or corrupt
file' message when I started my comp...the apparent file in question is a
WINDOWS/sys32/432 ...something, anyway there was no way to get Windows to
start....so I attempted a 'non-destructive' system restore to see if it could
recover this MIA file....the process ran thru okay and when I clicked on
'Restart', I got kicked again to the dreadful black screen, except this time
I have, 'NTLDR is compressed press cntrl+alt+del to restart'...when I do
this it sends me right back to this same message.......unfortunately my
system went down before I could backup any files...because of that this was
my atempt to save what I could but to try and restore this lovely
'file'.....now I'm stuck and don't know how to fix this new issue.....can
anybody help me out?

Pull the hard drive and slave it in another machine. Then, depending on what
you can see, you have choices:

1. If the drive (and its files) is seen in a working XP install, then copy
off your data using Windows Explorer. Burn to cd/dvd-r.

2. If the drive (and its files) is not seen in a working XP, boot the
testbed box with:

a. Knoppix, a Linux distro that runs from cd; or
b. a Bart's PE; or
c. data recovery software.

Once you have retrieved the data, put the drive back in the original
computer. Format the drive and clean-install Windows.

Andrew, give it up. The meds are obviously not working. The OP can't get
into Windows so he couldn't do any of that. Now go away.

Hello Mr. Andrew

What kind of advice is that for the poster. Shame on you. Do not give bad advice or advice that has nothing to do with an issue. I am not very proficient with a computer but my Dad is but I know enough that the answer that you have given the poster is awful and very wrong

Bye

Sadly, wrong answers are the only kind Andrew knows.
