Corrupt DNS (I think that is what it is called)

I recently returned from Europe with my laptop (and acessed the
Internet from numerous hotels) and have developed a strange problem.
I am unable to acess any of my home computers by name only by ip
address. So if I ping my desktop PENTIUM4 i get no reponse but if I
ping 192.168.0.3 I do. The omly way i can map its C drive is with
\\192.168.0.3\C NOT \\Pentium4\C the way I did before this business
trip. Any ideas?

Perhaps it would help if you posted the results from ipconig/all. Perhaps
you removed the reference to a DNS server while in Europe. Perhaps you
don't have the DHCP server correct.
Perhaps, if you don't use a DHCP server, your hosts file is incorrect.
As you can tell, there are lots of possibilities.
Perhaps you need to run the Network Setup Wizard again.

First I did not mention all the other machines on the network work .
Second I did not make any changes to the settings but perhaps when I
used the hotles internet connection they did
