I have about 2.02 GB of photos I want to copy to a 4.7 GB DVD. I went through
all the steps for copying the photos to a cd. At about the 2nd of 3rd file it
says it says Windows has encountered a problem trying to copy this file... I
have no other copying software like nero or roxio.

Thanks

I'm thinking it may help the issue if you
run Disk Cleanup to delete all of your Temp
and Temporary Internet files. Also empty
your recycle bin. And before you begin the
burning process, close all open programs
and disable your virus scanner.

If the task is to simply create a Data DVD...why
would Authoring Software be required?

Because XP has no DVD copying capability. Only copying to CD is available
with XP. So you need something like Nero, Roxio, etc software to copy to
DVD.

I would suggest doing all these things and trying again. Although I use
Roxio to copy data to DVD's, it turns out that to make a data DVD with
Roxio, you do NOT use any of the DVD modules. It is done using the
Creator Classic module which refers only to CD's and has you follow the
instructions for making a data CD except for putting in a DVD when ready
to burn.

Would you use Creator Classic to burn a video from PS3 to DVD as well or just
for a data disc? I am having trouble getting my "fabulous" project burned in
Roxio for sending to my friends.

thanks,
