When I create a hyperlink in word and copy and paste it into Windows Mail, it
doesn't connect. The hand shows like it's a live link, but nothing happens.

This problem didn't happen in Microsoft Outlook, so I am guessing it's
something in Windows Mail.

Appreciate your help.

Do you still have Outlook installed? If so, it is probably the default
handler. Go to 'Control Panel|Default programs|Set your default programs',
click Windows Mail, and make sure that it is the default program and that it
has all its defaults.

I am having the same problem, I tried the suggestion but that makes no
difference. My problem is that if I include a hyperlink in Windows
Mail and copy the text into a duplicate email the link in the first
mail works but the link in the second email is corrupted by a series
of letters and numbers in front of it.

This is a known issue in both Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail
when copying a link into a HTML message.
I haven't tried this, but you may want to use an intermediate medium
like Notepad. Paste the link into Notepad, clean it up if necessary,
then copy & paste it into a Windows Mail message.

The problem (glitch) is the same as I have with HTML mail signatures. If
you look at the "Source"code (have Source Edit checked via View/Source Edit)
on your e-mail in which you pasted the link from Word the code for the link
has two quotation marks without the web address in them <href =" "> instead
of <a href="http://web...address">.

There are only two current work arounds. One was suggested: Copy & Paste
the link to something which displays only the web address (not as a
link...such as using notepad) and then copy and paste it back into Windows
Mail. The second is to remove the hyperlink first in Word (right-click on
it) before copying it. Now only the text is copied. When you paste THIS
into Windows Mail, it creates the hyperlink automatically (assuming the text
copied displayed the entire link path such as http://...domain.com.
