copying formula's

i've noticed a problem in excel 2003,
if i copy a formula, the formula increments, but the sum
is copied from the target cell.

eg
a b c d
1 2 3 6
2 3 4 6
3 4 5 6

where d =a1+b1+c1
the formula increments- a2+b2+c2 but the answer is still
6 when it should be 9.

dragging formulas used to work, what's gone wrong?

Check Tools/Options/Calculation, and select the Automatic radio button.
