copying files to cd-rw

Hi,

Use third-party CD writing software that includes UDF capabilities. The
native burning software in WinXP does not possess that function, therefore
everything it writes is "read-only" as it does not support rewriting a file.

how do you copy files to cd-rw without read only
attributes?

I found what could be a solution to this in my own work. I'm a writer and
have book chapter files on my hard disk. As a backup, I copy these files to
a CD-RWdisk, which sets them as "Read Only." By experimentation, I found
that I could copy a Read Only file from the CD-RW drive to a folder on my
hard disk, and it would come through as a regular file and not Read Only. I
don't really need to do this, as I do revisions on the chapter files on my
hard disk and then copy them to the CD-RW drive, replacing the unrevised
file there with the latest revision. But perhaps you can use or adapt some
of this information in your own situation.
