Copying emails and contacts from one PC to another

I am trying to work out how to transfer all emails and
other stuff like contacts in MS Outlook from an old PC
(Windows ME) to a new PC (Windows XP). Is this a simple
process? Would be grateful if someone could shed some
light on this.
