copying data files to a cd

How do I copy my music library to a cd? do I have to zip them? How do I
zip? please help...
 
Open Windows XP's "Help and Support Center"
and perform a search for CD RECORDING.
The helpful topics and instructions will magically appear.

If you want to copy your music files to a CD, just do it the same way
you'd copy (say) a Word document. Zipping music files is typically a
waste of time as they are almost always heavily compressed.

What is your music library currently? If it's audio CDs, you probably
want to "rip" them to MP3 files. That can be done with Windows Media
Player (File|Copy|Copy from audio CD), and other apps. If your music
is on tapes or LPs, it's a bit more complicated. You'll need audio
process software, which will capture the analog signal as you place
your record or tape (with output from the player plugged into the
audio input port of your computer) and switch it to a digital format.
Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) is a free, open-source
program that can do this.

Once you have the tunes in MP3 forms, it's easy. Put a blank CD-R in
the drive, drag the files to save onto it, and select "Write these
files to CD".
