I have a computer with both Outlook 2000 and now a laptop with Outlook
2003. I would like to get the Contacts from the 2000 machine over to
the 2003 one.

How do I do that?

Thanks.

Hi
Probably the easiest way would be to use the Import and
Export wizard from within the "File" menu, this will then
create a PST file (or CSV etc) that you can then import
into your new version of Outlook.

Hope this helps

Thank you for trying to help.
I did that I think. I copied the .pst file from my Outlook 2000 onto
a memory key; put the memory key into the back of my laptop; Use File,
Import/Export, Import another file, and PST.

But it created a "Contacts in Personal Folder" in addition to my
"Contacts" as shown in the My Contacts window in the Navigation pane.
When I go to Address Book, Contacts is shown in the Show Names from
box, but there are no names. If I right click on either one and
select Properties, Outlook Address Book, and use this for Address
Book, I then get two Contacts in the Address Book window and the one
that comes up first, doesn't have anything in it, so I have to drop
the menu down, and select the 2nd one.

So what I've down is copied in a Personal Folder, rather than copying
into my Contacts.

Do you have any suggestions on how to copy new contacts into Contacts?
Thank you very much.

Thanks for your response. Actually I import the old .pst to the new
computer but what that seemed to do was to create "Contacts in
Personal Folder" rather than to put the contacts of the .pst file into
the "Contacts".
Is there some way to get the contents of the old .pst into the new
"Contacts" without creating another "Contacts in Personal Folder"
Thank you very much,
Jon

I did not mean to imply you should copy the Contacts folder itself. Open
the Contacts folder in the old PST. Select View>By Category, Press CTRL-A.
Then either click and drag all the items to the new Contacts folder (to
move) or right-click and drag and choose "Copy".

Don't use Import and Export on PSTs.
