I need to copy a printer driver file to a 3 1/2 floppy drive to put on an
older computer without internet access. How do I split the file between
several disks and then combine it again on the older computer.

WinZIP

http://www.winzip.com/

And us the span capability.

However, I suggest using a USB Flash drive instead. It is more reliable, faster and has a
much higher capacity. Even a cheap 16MB USB Flash drive will do the trick although getting
a larger capacity will give you greater flexibility down the road.

There are lots of freeware/shareware file splitter programs available. Also,
almost every Zip utility has this capability.

Personally, I'd probably just burn it to a CD instead of fooling with
floppies.

I'd say network. Or better yet, e-mail it :)

Without kidding, why not install Total Commander? That'll give you a great
file manager application that can also (among tons of other features) split
and combine files.

If not, then use WinRAR. Not that deprecated ZIP thingy.

AoA/Helloo,
try hjsplitter, just google to find. size few Kilobytes (~nearly 70KB)
but work with all kind of files i tried myself.

and for other ppl don't try to give him the suggestion of USB/ CD-RW

You are making an assumption. He may not be cognizant of the capability and thus not
suggesting this would be providing por support information.

Writing to a CD was just a suggestion. Relax. (Smile.)

The OP failed to mention whether he had a CD on the
old system or not. The old system doesn't need to have
a CD-RW drive; just a CD-ROM drive to read the file
copied onto the CD from the newer PC's CD-RW drive.
Agreed?

And many, many older PCs are equipped with CD-ROM
drives. I had a CD drive on my first Mac, circa 1993
and on my first PC, circa early 1995. It is possible that
the OP's old computer does have a CD. If so, it negates
the trouble to split files across undependable floppies.
