Copy profile to new computer

Can I copy a user profile from one computer (the one I'm replacing) to
another (the one I want to set up to look the same with the least effort)?

If this is possible where do I find the user profile details on the existing
machine and where would I copy them to on the new machine?

Grateful for advice.

The "Files & Settings Transfer Wizard" is specifically designed to do
this. XP to XP will work fine, XP to Vista requires you use the tool
on the Vista DVD for compatibility reasons.

I tried using this wizard once and it took over everything and copied loads I
didn't want to copy. Is there a more selective way of doing it, without using
the wizard?

Thanks

The wizard offers a selection mode where you can pick and choose
settings or data to store in the module. If you're after appearance of
the new profile just pick settings and not files.

Go to Documents and Settings and copy the profile from there for the user.
You would copy it to the same place on the other pc. If you already have a
profile for that user, you might want to make a backup copy of it so you can
go back to it if you have problems. When you try to copy the profile to the
new pc, it will ask you if you want to copy over that profile. You will lose
everything in the original profile. You need to know that any problems this
profile has will also copy over to the new machine and that applications
will not copy over to the new machine.
