I've seen many references to moving the My Documents folder but I want to
copy it to a Flash Drive so that I can transfer it to a new pc. Is this
possible?

Copying it is trivial, assuming your drive is big enough: just cut and
paste the contents in Explorer.

Yes

Sorry, I really don't mean to be rude or insulting, but if you are
unable to work out whether or not you can do this, then I'm not quite
sure it's something you should be attempting without some on-hand
assistance.

yes it is and u can copy. but here's a better solution use files and
settings transfer wizard this will copy all ur files and settings ur
favorites, outlook mails addressbooks and ofcoz ur documents everything! to
a compressed file (allows to choose wat to include or exclude too.) that u
can burn or copy it to ur new pc and use the same wizard to set it on ur new
pc.
To access files and settings transfer wizard: Goto startmenu > progams >
accessories > system tools > files and settings transfer wizard. or just
type migwiz.exe in ur startmenu run.

Hope this helps...,

I suppose I asked for that, but the reason I asked, is that I also thought
this was a simple matter, (and I do know how to copy and paste) but there is
no "paste" option when I try to paste. I copy the folder on the C: drive, go
to the flash drive, right click to paste, but there is no option in the drop
down menu to paste it, and if I use the "Edit" button in the tool bar, the
Paste option is greyed out.

Well I'll be buggered, yer right ... I withdraw my earlier aspersions
on you :) :) :) ... one becpomes a bit conditioned to some of the
questions asked in here.

Mebbe it's because the actaul My Documents folder is part of the
Windows "system".

Yet, when you open Windows Explorer, click on Desktop (so My Documents
is in the right hand column), then right click on the My Documents
folder (in the right hand column), the "Copy To" button in the Windows
Expl toolbar is ACTIVE!!!

No way - what a convoluted cumbersome piece of software ... do this
.... select this ... do this ... select this ... choose this ...
zzzzzzzz.

Another classic example of Microsoft's
take-over-control-of-your-computer automated software.

What's wrong with the simple right-click Copy->Paste, or even the Copy
To function in Explorer.

Yes, the "Copy to" option is active, but when you select where you want it to
go to, and it says "Press Copy" the "Copy" button is greyed out. It must be
because its a sytem folder. I think I'll just copy the contents to a temp
folder and then copy back to the new "My Docs" folder.

Well, since the normal copy & paste functions do not appear to work, the
wizard seems nto be the way to go. Everything compressed into one file to be
expanded again on the new PC. Sounds OK to me.
Thanks Thota.
